Never pay retail for your prescriptions again!

Susan Robbins, co-Founder & Vice President, Marketing, of ApotheCard Inc. and PS Card

Susan Robbins is co-Founder and Vice President, Marketing, of ApotheCard Inc., the consumer-directed prescription drug savings card company.  A creative problem solver with extensive background in advertising and marketing, Susan joined her husband in 2006 in establishing a company that would allow uninsured and other self-paying consumers enjoy significant savings on much needed prescription drugs.

An artist and prolific writer, Robbins began her career in 1985 at a Santa Barbara, California advertising agency.  She remained in the agency business nearly a decade, serving as production manager, account manager, and creative director at agencies in California and London, representing a variety of international clients.  In 1994, Robbins moved beyond advertising to provide marketing communications and brand identity/evolution services to Frontier Corporation/WCT Communications.  She worked in similar capacities at PulsePoint Communications (formerly Digital Sound) and Ericsson Inc. (Access Product Unit, formerly ACC) before founding her own marketing consultancy in 2000.  For the next seven years, she focused her marketing planning and strategies on start-up companies in nanotechnology and related fields.  Predominantly, her areas of focus were search marketing, web marketing and email marketing.   However, Robbins had a keen interest in consumer marketing and advertising and always kept the end user in mind.  Whether she was concentrating on the nurse/doctor/patient relationship in work for catheter products or staying connected with long-distance, voicemail or network equipment, consumer receptivity was top of mind.

Along the way, Robbins became a mother to three, including a child with asthma, allergies and eczema.  Over and above the challenges of caring for a child with chronic illnesses was the expense of doing so.  So, when her husband James Robbins moved away from his career as a healthcare economist to found ApotheCard, she joined him and brought her marketing expertise to bear on the PS Card service (, which today saves consumers an average of 45% off the retail price of prescription drugs at more than 56,000 pharmacies coast to coast.

Susan Robbins holds a BA in Studio Art. She has been a featured speaker for the Santa Barbara Ad Club Training Seminars, a guest speaker at UCSB’s Extension and Communications Club and has been published in the Santa Barbara News Press in an article about business card design trends. Robbins currently resides in Carpinteria, California with James and their three children.  She was a Founding Board Member of The Howard School there, and contributes her marketing expertise to a variety of local non-profits.
