UNITED METHODIST ASSOCIATION AND PS CARD TO BRING OFFER
OF HEALTH CARE CRISIS RELIEF TO THOUSANDS COAST-TO-COAST

One of Country’s Largest Social Services Network Joins Forces with Discount Prescription Drug Card Company; Offer Savings on Needed Medications In Tough Economy

VANDALIA, OH, May 29, 2009— The United Methodist Association of Health and Welfare Ministries (UMA) has joined forces with PS Card, a free prescription drug discount card that offers uninsured consumers access to discounted pricing for prescription drugs, to offer much needed economic assistance to many of the 32 million people served by UMA annually. Free PS Card membership will be offered through more than 105 UMA-affiliated local outreach centers, including soup kitchens, job training centers, and family service centers, as well as through UMA’s website (www.umassociation.org) and many local congregations coast to coast, it was announced today by Dr. Mearle Griffith, President / CEO of UMA.

“During these difficult economic times, UMA is constantly looking for ways to enhance the lives of Americans, many of whom find themselves unemployed and uninsured,” says Dr. Griffith.  “UMA pioneered the distribution of free prescription discount cards through our faith-based outreach to the uninsured four years ago. Now, through our new association with PS Card, we continue to demonstrate that it is possible to alleviate some of the burden of this economic crisis by reaching those needing but largely unable to afford their prescription drugs with a helping hand.”

PS Card is a free prescription drug discount card that offers uninsured consumers access to discounted pricing for prescription drugs and other prescription items, such as diabetic test strips.  PS Cards may be used for discounted pricing on all FDA-approved prescription drugs at more than 56,000 pharmacies in the U.S. and its territories. Personalized PS Cards are available 24/7 at www.pscard.com.

“We are extremely pleased that UMA has given us this opportunity to help still more people stay on their needed medications which they often can’t afford,” says James Robbins, Co-Founder and CEO of PS Card. “Over the last three years, we’ve assisted hundreds of thousands of consumers who are uninsured, who don’t qualify for assistance programs, who are on high-deductible Health Savings Account (HSA) qualified health plans, who need an expensive prescription that is not covered by their insurance plan, or who are on a Medicare Part D prescription plan and have hit the “doughnut hole”. Currently, PS Card is saving our collective membership more than $10 million per year.”

UMA is a national association of United Methodist-related, and other faith-based ministries, and professionals actively involved in promoting quality care in a faith-based setting. Headquartered here, UMA serves nearly 400 health and human service organizations and professionals nationwide by providing more than two billion dollars in charity care annually and serving more than 32 million people each year in 1555 locations across the U.S. UMA employs 354,000 individuals providing loving care in the name of The United Methodist Church.
